Grilled Goat Chz

IMG_8965-1.jpg

My love for cheese began at the age of 3 when I spent afternoons popping slices of Craft American Cheese like Tic Tacs. Something about that savory richness just got me hooked for life. So when it comes to grilled cheese, ya girl takes it seriously because we all know it’s all about what lies between those two pieces of bread.

Over the years, I expanded my cheese palette and discovered my liking for Goat and Sharp Cheddar cheese and how it paired so well with sweet flavors like honey. Which is why I can’t wait to share with you all, our first recipe of Foodie Fridays!

Ingredients:

DAIRY

  • A stick of butter

  • 6 oz Crumbled Goat Cheese

  • 6 oz Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

GRAINS

  • Italian White Bread (uncut loaf that way you can cut thick slices)

CONDIMENTS

  • Red Pepper Flakes

  • 6 tbsp Honey

Here’s how to put it all together for a sweet and savory masterpiece!

  1. Take your loaf of Italian Bread and cut thick even slices, like pictured above.

  2. Melt the butter with a generous pour of the Red Pepper Flakes and let it simmer for 5 minutes and then transfer to a small bowl. With a pastry brush, cover ONE side of the two slices of bread with butter. *Tip: The more butter the better.

  3. Heat pan over medium heat. Place one slice of bread buttered-side down on pan.

  4. Add crumbled goat cheese and shredded sharp cheddar cheese to your slice. You can add as much goat and cheddar as you please. If you’re like me and LOVE the richness of Sharp Cheddar, just add a less pieces of Goat.

  5. Drizzle 1tbsp of honey overtop and top the cheese and honey with the other slice of buttered bread.

  6. Cover the pan with a lid to allow the cheese to fully melt

  7. Allow the slice of bread to get toasty until it’s golden brown and cheese is melted. *Tip: I liked to flip the grilled cheese every 2 minutes for about 6 minutes max. It really all depends how thick you cut you sliced bread.

  8. Once you get a toasty finish, drizzle some more honey and add a sprinkle of Red Pepper Flakes.
